"A Job Ain't the Answer"

"Or we can refuse to accept the slot of Labor and Job-Holder to which capitalism has reduced us. As human being and as citizens we can take responsibility for the struggles necessary to create an new economy, an economy which serves our deep human need for the kind of Work that develops our skills, encourages our cooperation and enables [people] to work and share in building strong families and communities and in making political decisioned for our communities and country."

From a pamphlet by James Boggs titled "A Job Ain't the Answer" and distributed as part of the National Organization for an American Revolution (February 1981). "Jimmy" was born 102 years ago today.
